Tens of thousands of demonstrators from across the UK congregated in central London against the government's austerity policy. The protesters, following a call from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), urged the ruling coalition to realize that their austerity prescription for the recession-hit country has failed. The number of unemployed in the UK has reached more than 2.5 million, while another three million cannot get full-time jobs. The IMF warned last week that Britain risks doing more harm than good to its economy through its austerity measures. The UK is currently in a double-dip recession.
