London's Arsenal Sells Robin van Persie to Manchester United: Dutch Striker Voted Best Player
London's Arsenal have agreed to sell their captain Robin van Persie to Manchester United for a fee believed to be in the region of USD 37m. The 29-year-old Dutch striker was voted the league's best player last season after he scored 37 goals helping the London club to secure Champion's League qualification. At Old Trafford Van Persie will link up with 70-year-old manager Alex Ferguson as Manchester United try to take the title back from their hometown rivals Manchester City who triumphed last year with the financial backing of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Roman Abramovich's Chelsea will also be in the mix to win the championship this year with the club still on a high after winning Europe's Champion's League last year. The action in the world's most competitive football league kicks off this weekend and will last right through until next May.
