Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Hosts Weapons Exhibition in Tehran: Shows New Ballistic Missiles
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has unveiled an upgraded, more accurate version of a short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile at a weapons exhibition in Tehran that was shown on state television. At the event, which marked the national day of Iran's defence industry, Ahmadinejad also unveiled several other new Iranian-made weapons, such as a naval diesel engine, a mortar launcher, a military intelligence system, and tactical SUVs. Ahmadinejad said the weapons weren't for what he termed an "aggressive context," but rather to be used as a deterrent against attack. The unveiling comes as the debate continues to rage in Israel over whether to launch a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.
