Hitler's Children

"Hitlerâ??s Childrenâ?%9D
is a unique documentary film that reveals, for the first time, the ways in which family members of high rank senior Nazi officers from Hitlerâ??s inner circle struggle with the burden of carrying a terror-inducing surname.
During detailed interviews, families such as Goering, Himmler, Hoess amongst others, share the feelings of guilt and responsibility that accompany them in their daily lives.

During his detailed and intensive research, director and producer, Chanoch Zeâ??evi, third generation of Holocaust survivors, was able to convince direct descendantsâ?? of members of the Nazi regime to speak with him, thereby creating a in-depth and mesmerizing dialogue that tells the story of the Holocaust from a new and original vantage point.

Their family names alone evoke horror: Himmler, Frank, Goering, Hoess.
Hitlerâ??s Children is a film about the descendants of the most powerful figures in the Nazi regime: men and women who were left a legacy that permanently associates them with one of the greatest crimes in history. What is it like for them to have grown up with a name that immediately raises images of murder and genocide? How do they cope with the fact that they are the children of ... literally, not just metaphorically.

For more then sixty years, they have lived in the shadows, trying to rebuild their lives without the constant reminders of what their fathersâ?? and grandfathersâ?? once did. Only now are they ready to bare the scars that their legacy has left them. They are ready to talk about what it is like to be the children of ... literally, not just metaphorically.

In â??Hitlerâ??s Childrenâ?%9D they discuss the delicate balance they have reached as they negotiate between the natural admiration that children have toward their parents and their innate revulsion of their parentsâ?? crimes.

How can they protect their families, even as they pass their name down to future generations? And how do they relate to the other side, the victims for whom their very names stir memories of revulsion and terror that cannot be repressed?

In Hitlerâ??s Children we not only hear their stories. We witness their rapprochment, many years later, despite all the hurdles. We are there as they glare accusingly at each other, pour their hearts out, and conclude that the time has come for them to finally move on.
