And in 2012, here in Toulouse, a murderer, fueled by the same burning hatred, butchered three small Jewish children -- 8-year-old Miriam Monsonego, 6-year-old Arieh Sandler, his little brother, 3-year-old Gabriel Sandler, and their father Jonathan. If he could, he would have murdered each and every Jewish child he encountered, just like the Nazis. However, there are two substantial differences between the massacres committed in the past against the Jewish people and the heinous crime that was committed here. The first difference is that during the dark period of the Nazis and the pogroms which preceded it, the majority of European governments did nothing to fight the murderous anti-Semitism, and some even cooperated with it. Today, my friend, the President of France, Francois Hollande, is standing here, speaking firmly against anti-Semitism and fighting determinedly to eliminate it.
